ABOUT JAMEL

Having studied at North Carolina A&T State University in the United States' textile capital, I've gained domestic and international industry experience. I was selected as a student designer to develop concepts that have been manufactured and distributed in both Italy and Spain. In 2009 I was selected to study abroad in London, England and Paris, France. In the Summer of 2009 I also relocated to Minneapolis, MN to intern with Target Corporation as a Men's Technical Design Intern. The following Summer I was selected for an internship with Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation in New York City were I worked as a Menswear Design Intern.

Upon graduation I returned to PVH as a freelance Styling Assistant working on Timberland before joining the design team at Joe Fresh where I worked on men’s sportswear and then men’s and women’s collection design. Later I joined the Victorinox Swiss Army men’s design team as an assistant for all woven apparel product categories (Outerwear, Shirts, Trousers, Denim and Swimwear). Other projects and freelance clients have included BKE private label woven shirts, Brooklyn Circus  and Jeffery Banks menswear for all product categories.

Most recently I have been with Ralph Lauren where I started as an Assistant Designer before being promoted to an Associate Designer and then Designer. I have contributed to Men’s Purple Label woven bottoms and accessories, Polo woven bottoms and headwear, Polo Golf and RLX Golf woven bottoms, headwear and accessories as well as woven bottoms and headwear for Special Projects like The Olympics, US Open, British Open, Ryder Cup, Pink Pony (RL Breast Cancer Awareness) and Wimbledon.
